This is a lovely and simple little gimmicked box, which is nicely crafted and works easily.
It's an effect to use when you already have a good knowledge of slight of hand and have put in the work to learn some traditional magic.
To be a good magician, in my opinion, you have to learn the basics before you go and use self-working tricks. Just my ten-penny worth.
The box is very convincing the first time you use it, but it shouldn't be repeated, but used with discretion like most gimmicked tricks. Thanks

For 7 years I have been working on a Bizarre Magic effect, but have struggled to find the right wooden box for it. When I saw this box advertised it looked just what I needed, so I sent for it as the price is reasonable. Great little wooden box which I am able to incorporate into a number of my tricks. Sometimes the gimmick doesn’t always lay fully flush, so I occasionally have to quickly manoeuvre it with my thumb, but as a beginner to magic I am finding it really useful.

Well made box and a great trick for children (too obvious for adults). Minor niggle in that the card has to be very carefully placed centrally in the base or else the edges of the card can show under the cover plate. A slightly larger cover plate would be an improvement.

\used this twice now in C/U shows and it is a beautiful effect., I have customised the box with some under-stated colour and carving and it is now unique!

It’s a good looking box but, for me, the problem with it is you have prepare it out of sight and you can’t leave it lying around and do the trick spontaneously. Also, you can only do it once because it needs resetting out of sight. But, for all that, I do like it and it is well made.

A very easy magic trick you can produce many things in the box I produce a key from the hide a key trick and it fools everyone.
You can produce cards, money etc and it is very simple to do great for beginners I love the look on their faces when the key appears in the box well worth buying.

I have had many card boxes over the years. The vast majority, even the pricey ones, often fail to operate properly. I have not had any issues with this box. This is my go-to box. The only criticism I would make of it is the finish, but then I am picky, and the finish is easily altered to suit your style or brand.

Anyone familiar with magic will recognize immediately that the effect is based on the spirit slates gimmick, but the workmanship on the box is quite good. I'm quite pleased with the box overall, but I do have two concerns with the one I received.
Either the wood warped after it was made, or the two sides weren't perfectly aligned when the hinges were attached. When closed one end has about a 3 mm. gap between the two sides. The result is, if I'm not careful, the gimmick will not accurately line up when the switch is made.
On the inside of the box, the felt has been slightly flattened on one side and on one side of the gimmick by the magnet that holds it in place. It's barely noticeable, but I noticed it immediately when I opened it. Luckily I was able to find a way to minimize the chance a spectator will suspect anything is wrong. I flipped the gimmick so that after the switch is made the flattened part of the gimmick appears where the flattened part is on the inside of the box.
A suggestion for anyone who purchases this: While experimenting with the box, I noticed that if a card (piece of paper, etc.) is close to the edge (top or bottom, the long way) it can still be seen after it's covered by the gimmick because the gimmick needs to be slightly smaller to smoothly change sides. In performance, one needs to make sure that everything remains in the center of the felt-covered space. Especially on something like the torn and restored card effect, if the pieces spread out top-to-bottom the spectator will see a glimpse of white at the edge after the switch and the effect will be spoiled.
All that said, the box is beautifully made. The wood and its grain are nicely finished, the polyurethane finish or lacquer is clear and well done. This is a versatile and self-working piece of equipment that I expect to make good use of for years to come. Considering the quality of the workmanship and materials, I think the price is quite appropriate.

I use this as a little close up magic box for table hopping. I open the box and take out some coins and sone cards and do magic, then use the box within several effects. Love it and have brought two. One for gigs, and another just to have on my coffee table. It's a conversation starter.
