Invisible Triumph - Jim Krenz. This is a very deceptive card trick with a single, high powered climax. A specator chooses a card from the deck. Piles of cards, all shuffled by audience members, are now riffled together so that half of them are face up and half are face down. The magician spreads the deck and all the cards have magically turned face up except for one card - the specator’s card. The video tutorial is a very high quality production. Jim Krenz is an excellent teacher. He shows you everything carefully and thoroughly, including an excellent force required for the first method he teaches. He doesn’t hang around so he doesn’t waste your time waffling. However, on the journey he gives you many expert tips on subtleties of misdirection and humour. You are being taught by a master. More than one variation on the basic routine is taught. The second version does not require a card to be forced, so the difficulty rating of this trick is beginner. On the other hand, Krenz has the ability to raise your level of expertise and skill to help you become a more accomplished and confident magician. A gimmicked deck is provided with a Joker as the force card. Any card from a normal deck could be substituted for the Joker. The deck is Bicycle Rider back and is supplied in an additional, plastic storage tuck case in which the deck and its cardboard tuck case fit neatly. I wish that other gimmicked decks where supplied in packaging like that. If you wanted to perform this effect with your favourite, signature deck, it would be easy enough to do so if you have a certain substance to hand, e.g. a r*******g s***k. I think that this effect would look great with cards that have strong or dark coloured backs with no white borders. This would heighten the impact of the final card spread in which all the cards have turned face up except for one - the chosen card. However, using the ‘bikes’ provided says, “these are just ordinary, every day cards.” Although the deck is gimmicked, you can use it before or after the Invisbile Triumph routine for any card trick, as long as the trick does not involve cards being placed back to back. The first method taught by Jim Krenz is probably the best. It does require you to force a card, but he teaches a very deceptive one that is not too difficult to do. There are a few crucial steps you have to remember. When I first tried this out, I thought the sequencing of moves was a bit fiddly and that discouraged me from perfroming it. However, having watched the video again prior to writing this review, it is actually quite easy and I look forward to getting some extra practice by showing it to friends and family. I am sure that a few performances will cause muscle memory to kick in so that this can be presented confidently at any time. Great for close up or parlour settings. You need to work ona. table, ideally with a close up mat. This would also work in a virtual show. You would have to turn your head away when showing the audience the ‘chosen’ card, but the powwer of the effcet does not really hang on you not knowing what the card is. The key effect is that all the cards end up face up except the one the spectator ‘freely’ chose.
