'One of the staple effects I perform is 'Card on Ceiling', but whilst a fantastic effect, it has the major drawback that it lacks impact in a room with a low ceiling. The effect is less impressive and worse still someone would inevitably peel the card off the ceiling and ruin the effect. Among various possible solutions, I hit on the concept of combining Card on Ceiling with a Sharpshooter style effect. The idea being that when the pack is thrown at the ceiling, a spectator is asked to shoot at the pack with an imaginary or replica gun. A bit like the moment in a spaghetti western when the maverick shoots the centre out of a silver dollar
Now when the card is stuck onto the ceiling and someone retrieves it, instead of a desultory remark your get 'Hey, it's got a hole clean through it!' A double climax, which leaves your audience passing round the signed, 'shot' card!
I considered various solutions but few allowed for the card to be signed, which I considered essential. Even the most jaded spectator would arrive at the use of a duplicate selection as a solution, if no signature was involved. Then 'Eureka' moment occurred.....' - James Prince
BULLET
A hole appears in a freely selected, signed card!
THREE BULLET PROOF METHODS
1) A card is freely selected, signed and returned to the pack. The performer shows that card has jumped to his pocket. The card is returned to the pack and the pack is then given to a spectator to hold. Another spectator is asked to fire an imaginary gun at the deck. When the spectator removes his card, a hole has been 'shot' right through the card!
2) A card is freely selected, signed and returned to the pack. The performer shows that card has jumped to his pocket. The Card is returned to the pack and a band is placed round the deck. The spectator is asked to fire an imaginary gun at the deck, when it is thrown into the air. When deck lands there is a card stuck to the ceiling and a hole has been 'shot' into the card! (For use with your own favourite 'card on ceiling' routine.)
3) The card is freely selected, signed and returned to the pack. The pack is placed into a card box and a band placed around the deck. The deck is set onto a small target. The spectator is asked to fire an imaginary gun at the deck. The deck falls away from the target, and one card remains behind on the target. A hole is seen to have been 'shot' through the card!
James takes you step by step through these three methods. This photo illustrated 18 page ebook will breath new life into your card to pocket or card on ceiling routines!
